Lena Lovely Tillman

On June 25, 2009, Lena Lovely Tillman entered into eternal rest after an extended illness at the St. Thomas Moore Nursing Home in Hyattsville, Maryland. She was born to the late Andrew and Anna Lee Johnson on October 9, 1924 in King and Queen County, Virginia.
Lena attended Lawson Public School in King and Queen County, Virginia. She joined the First Mount Olive Baptist Church at an early age where she attended services, until she moved to Washington, D.C. As a young woman Lena was renowned for her beauty. She will always be known as the "Prettiest girl to ever come out of King and Queen County".
She married Jesse Tillman on January 29, 1965 who was her devoted husband for forty four years. Lena was a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, a beautiful sister, and a kind aunt who was always glad to see her relatives coming to visit.

She spent most of her adult life in the Washington, D.C. area working on various jobs including some modeling, and finally became employed by the Government Printing Office in 1973, where she remained employed until her retirement in 1989.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Aretha Johnson of Bowie Maryland, and one step-daughter, Barbara Wardlaw of Ft. Washington, Maryland. One sister, Minnie Johnson of Newtown, Virginia, one brother, Dorsey Johnson of Newtown Virginia, two grandchildren, Germaine Richardson and Robin Cross, one step-grandchild, three great grandchildren, one son-in law, Prentiss Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
