Lawrence Odell Parr

Odell was born January 3, 1930 to the late Theodore Johnson, Sr. and Irene Bush. He became a member of the Little Ark Baptist Church at an early age and was very dedicated to serving God and the Usher Board for 57 years. Odell attended church every Sunday. Odell served several organizations: The King George Masonic Lodge 314 for over 35 years; the Fredericksburg Consistory Number 346 for 24 years; the American Legion Post 329; and the NAACP. He was also the proud recipient of several Bronze Medals while serving in the Korean War for the United States Army. Odell had a very humble, quiet and gentle spirit. He had a great compassion for driving across the country along side one of his special friends, Leonard Pollard. He loved life so much that he walked with a camera wanting to capture precious moments of God's country, his family, and friends. Odell was united in marriage to Liza Pryor and unto this beautiful marriage they were blessed with five children: Wanda Rajah and Terrie Parr of Maryland; Jeffrey and Gregory Parr of King George; and Lawrence Parr, Jr., of Georgia. Five grandchildren, Ahmon Rajah(Devon), Mahdi Rajah, Jamal Rhoads, Trevor Parr, Brielle Parr, Aidan Parr; two great-grandchildren, Destiny Rajah and Tristan Rajah. One godson, Cyrus Jackson, Jr., two goddaughters, Deborah Bushrod of King George, Virginia and Nichelle Bush of Ashland, Virginia. He also leaves to cherish his memory, one son-in-law, Siam Rajah of Maryland; one daughter-in-law, Rebecca Parr of King George. Four brothers, Theodore R. Johnson, Jr Margaret) and Irvin Johnson(Gloria) of King George, Leon Johnson of Washington, DC.and Carroll A. Bush(Miranda)of Ashland, Va. Six sisters, Mabel Scott(William), Shirley Bumbrey both of King George, Blanche Parr, Thelma Holden, Doris Woodall all of New Jersey, and Glorine Campbell(Robert) of Maryland. Three brothers and one sister preceded him death. Six sisters-in-law, Inez Jackson, Mary Jackson(Cyrus), Audrey Brent(James), Sarah Triplett of King George, Martha Johnson and Dianne Scott(Richard) of Maryland and Helen Burnett of Georgia. A dedicated brother-in-law and ''riding buddy'' Cyrus Jackson, Sr., and a dedicated nephew, Darryl Scott. Special friends: Clinton Allen, James Allen, Jr., Wendell Allen, Laurie Bland, Clarence and Ida Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

After working for the Department of Defense Naval Surface Weapons Center of Dahlgren, Virginia for 35 years, Odell retired and immediately began working for the Bushrod Disposal Company for 10 years. He had so much nervous energy and could only sit still for a few days after which time, he went to work for the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board, Fredericksburg, Virginia up until the first day that his health began to fail.
