Laura Dobbins

Laura Dobbins was born on July 7, 1941 to the late Nannie Byrd Smith in King George, Va. She entered into a peaceful rest and went to be with her maker on March 10, 2007.

Sister Dobbins graduated from Ralph Bunch High School. She joined the Antioch Baptist Church and moved her membership to Shiloh Baptist Church, Port Royal, Va., until her demise.

On July 4, 1959, she was joined in marriage to Joseph Dobbins. To this union four children were born.

She was a loving and peaceful person. One who had a love for all whom she came in contact. Her home was a place where you could feel the presence of God's love. She had a special love for her family and her church. She was found in the house of the Lord whenever possible.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband of 47 years, Rev. Joseph Dobbins of Rappahannock Academy, two sons Jose Dobbins, Rappahannock Academy and Stacey Dobbins, Portsmouth, Va; two daughters, Joeleathia Dobbins Wilson, Chesterfield, Va.,and Sonja Johnson, Fredericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Nathan Johnson, Ashley Dobbins and Asia Jones; one son-in-law, Herman Johnson and one daughter-in-law, Kim Dobbins; one brother, John Smith; Eight sisters-in-law, Frances Smith, Maude Smith, Rosa Wright, Louise Covington, Barbara Jean Rollins, Gloria Garner, Angela Dobbins and Arlene Howard; Four brothers-in-law, John Washington, Robert Dobbins, Rev. John Garner and Ray Wright, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
