Laura B. Hayes was born January 10, 1927 to the late Joe Bryant and Amelia Muse Bryant in Potomac Beach, Virginia. The Lord called her to eternal rest on May 5, 2011 after a brief period of grave illness.
Laura was the youngest of her sibling whom all predeceased her in death Annie, Henderson, Abhram, Melvina, Romain, Joe and Katie Scott, Charlotte Jackson. Two grandchildren also predeceased her in death; Ryan and TeeWanda Hayes.
Laura received her education in the Colonial Beach Public School System. In 1944 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to James Hayes who also preceded her in death.
Laura accepted Christ at an early age, she was a member of New Monrovia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Carter and, later she joined First Baptist Church in Colonial Beach under the leadership of Rev. L.C. Charles. She was a member of the nurses unit for many years.
Laura was a faithful member of the church until her health declined.
Laura was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren; she had an abundance of love that she shared with every many. She was one to never complain whenever you'd ask her "how are you?" Her favorite words were, "I'm fine and you?"
Laura worked for Dr. Horace Kerr for 45 years; her hobbies included walking with Mrs. Kerr, visiting the sick, baking cakes, cookies and pies, making sauce, playing solitaire, and doing puzzle books. She had everyday phone buddies; Mrs. Kerr, Claria Perdell, Janette Casamier, Odessa Henderson, and Annie Morris.
Laura leaves to cherish her memories her children; Rev. Micheal Bryant (Alice) of Reedsville, Virginia, Leola Fox (James) of Columbia, South Carolina, Mary Dudley of Oxon Hill, Maryland, David Hayes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sarita Roy of Washington, D.C., her in-laws Frank and Rosie Hayes, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, 1 grandson-in-law, 1 great grandson-in-law, 2 very special friends, Doris Rhodes and Cindy Dudley and 1 special adopted granddaughter; Assia Beverly, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
