Kevin Berdell Fortune

Kevin Berdell Fortune departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born August 13, 1959 to Flossie Gaines and the late Ives Fortune, Sr. Kevin was the second child of six children born from this union. At an early age, he accepted the Lord and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Sparta, Virginia.

Kevin was employed by Caroline County Public Schools in the Maintenance Department for 17 years and during that time, he never met a stranger. Kevin would always greet you with a smile and he was never to busy to lend a helping hand.

Kevin leaves to cherish him memory his wife of twenty-two years, Brenda Latney Fortune, one son, Kevin "Buddy" Fortune Jr., his mother; Flossie Gaines, survived by three brothers; Bruce Fortune; Ives Fortune Jr.; Rodney Fortune of King and Queen, Va. and Keith Johnson who preceded in death; one sister Maria Gaines of King and Queen, Va. He also leaves to mourn, five aunts; Minnie Brown and Romaine (Howard) Green of Bowling Green, Va.; Shirley Lumpkin of Philadelphia, Pa.; Myrtle Alsop of King and Queen, Va.; and Evelyn Jenkins of Bowling Green, Va; two uncles John Johnson of Suitland, Md., and Howard Green of Bowling Green, Va. His mother-in-law, Shirley Latney of Bowling Green, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Debbie (Jack) Parson and Cindy (Calvin) Williams of Bowling Green, Va.; Vonda (Edward) Byrd, one brother-in-law, Michael (Tawanna) Latney of Dale City, Va. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Kevin will be greatly missed by his wife, son, mother, and a loving mother-in-law. His memory will live on in the hearts of the hearts he may have touched during his time here on earth.
