Kenneth Gilbert Brown affectionately known as "Gillie" of King George, Virginia departed this life on Thursday, May 29, 2014.
Born on May 26, 1938 in King George County , to the late James Morty and Vertalia Brown. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Hudson and Ruth Althea Monroe.
Kenneth is a graduate of Ralph Bunch High School and went to serve two years in the United States Army. Kenneth was employed at Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia for over 30 years. Many will remember him as a security guard. He broadened his employment with NSWC, where he retired as a Computer Specialist. Kenneth was a hardworking and dedicated employee. After retiring, Kenneth rejoined the work force as a security guard with Burns Security. Kenneth accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Westmoreland County, Virginia and later became a member of Antioch Baptist Church, King George, Virginia
Kenneth thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and would often find he knew something in common with those he met. He always had a willingness to help people in any way possible. He was also a die-hard fan of the Washington Redskins football team. Kenneth loved many sports including baseball, basketball and to tractor pulls and air shows. He received great joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and in taking his family on trips to the mountains in Skyline Drive.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Joyce "Buttercup" Brown, his children Joanna Payne (George), Kenneth "Vic" Brown, Robin B. Haywood (Alex), Brenda D. Brown, Gilbert L. Brown (Mirna) and Tracy L. Brown- Campbell (David); one brother, Donald Brown (Cassandra), two sisters, Vertalia Brown and Joyanne May; one brother-in-law, Vincent Jackson, one sister-in-law, Garnetta P. West(Michael); two aunt Muriel Fitzhugh and Hilda Brown; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Over the years, Kenneth's close friends were Freddie Brooks, Sterling Bumbry, William Pryor, Henry Barber and Marshall Barden
Most of all Kenneth leaves behind his beloved and faithful companion, FiFi his dog, whom he absolutely adored with all his heart.
