Junior Lee Mcdowney

Junior Lee "Drake" McDowney entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was born to the late Wesley McDowney Sr. and Gertrude Mason McDowney on November 17, 1938 in Westmorland County. He was educated in the public schools of Westmorland County. He joined New Monrovia Baptist Church Colonial Beach, VA after returning home from Washington, DC.

Junior was united in Holy Matrimony to Virginia Sayles on November 17, 1993.

Junior was employed with Church's Landscaping in Oxon Hill, MD. Junior was a man that loved his family and friends. He had some special nieces and nephews that he thought of has his own children. He loved to help and give to others and asked for nothing in return.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Alice, Little Gertie, Curtis, Isabelle, Yvonne, Wesley, Charles, Walter, Abe and Emmanuel.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Virginia McDowney, two step-daughters Natashya and Patrice Johnson of Colonial Beach, VA; two grandchildren Jasmine Johnson and Nicholas Baylor of Colonial Beach, VA; Four brothers Andrew, and Rev. Welford McDowney of Colonial Beach, VA; Abraham McDowney of Washington, DC; and Clarence McDowney of Forestville, MD; one Sister Mary Simms, of Upper Marlboro, MD; Mother-in-Law, Mary Sayles of Supply, VA; seven sisters-in law Mary, Louise, Elizabeth, and Beulah McDowney all of Colonial Beach, VA; Robin Sayles of Tappahannock, VA; Penny Johnson of Warsaw, VA; and Angela Washington of Loretta, VA; six brothers-in law; William Sayles of Parlow, VA; Franklin Sayles of Spotsylvania, VA; James, Robert and Neal Sayles, all of Supply, VA; and Michael Sayles of King George, VA; his dedicated caregiver Cassandra Chapman who held a special place in his heart; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
