Obituary


Joyce Hayes was born July 12, 1946 in Westmoreland County, Virginia to the late Daniel and Lessie Hayes. On Monday, August 14, 2006, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, she departed this life and went home to be with the Lord. She was one of seven children. Three siblings preceded her in death.

Joyce was educated in the Westmoreland County Public School System. She joined the New Monrovia Baptist Church at an early age. Joyce was united in Holy Matrimony to Gilbert Steven Morris (Ty), on August 5, 1989. God blessed them with three children, Andrea (Mushie), Gilbert (BamBam), and Tirrell (Bullet/Buddy). Joyce worked at various domestic jobs in different areas; however, she was still able to be a loyal wife and a loving mother.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Gilbert Morris; one daughter, Andrea L. Hayes of King George, Virginia; two sons, Gilbert Hayes of Colonial Beach, Virginia and Tirrell J. Morris of King George, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Shavanta� (Tae), Jalessa, Jamell, Quoryanna, Keondre, Shaquann and Brittany Hayes; one sister, Rosa L. Hayes; two brothers, Dan S. Hayes and Robert F. Hayes all of Colonial Beach, Virginia; one aunt, Ella Watts of Washington, DC; mother-in-law, AnnieBell Morris of Colonial Beach, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Raymond Morris (Phyllis) of Colonial Beach, Virginia; four sisters-in-law, Edna Ballard of Durham, North Carolina, Maxine Wilson of Woodbridge, Virginia, Barbara Morris of Temple Hills, Maryland, and Grenda Morris of Fort Washington, Maryland; Godson, Preston Newman (Veronica) of King George, Virginia; a special niece, Juanita Hayes of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends she loved dearly.
