Joyce Harrison

Deaconess Joyce Harrison was born July 29, 1939 to the late Walter and Laura Brooks and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital after a long illness.

Joyce received an early education at Ralph Bunch School in King George, VA.

At an early age Joyce joined Antioch Baptist Church where she was baptized, and later in life she joined Salem Baptist Church. Joyce was an active member of Salem until her health began to fail.

She served faithfully on the Deaconess Board, at one time serving as Chairwoman under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Leonard G. Bland. She also served at one time on the Usher Board and Nurses Unit.

On June 7, 1958, she was joined in holy matrimony with Alfred Harrison. Out of this union two children were born.

Joyce will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 63 years, Alfred Harrison, two sons, Duane (Imy) of Colonial Beach, VA; Keith (Kathleen) of Fort Worth, TX; two granddaughters, Kaila and Keira also of Fort Worth, TX; godson Kendrick Curtis of King George, VA; goddaughter Briana Thompson of Waldorf, MD; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Fields, Paulette Dorsey and Marsha Brooks; one brother-in-law, Walter Harrison (Linda); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
