John Wright

On Saturday Morning, May 2, 2015 our dear loving husband, father, brother John Purcell Wright left his earthly abode to be with the Lord. He has now accompanied God's angel to his eternal home.

John was born and raised in Milford, VA. to the late Curtis and Lucille Wright. He was one of five siblings and was proceeded in death by his brother, Hampton Ray Wright. John gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church. He married his high school sweetheart Dorothy M. Baylor in 1967. From this union, they were blessed with two daughters Melissa and Letitia. He soon joined Long Branch Baptist church where he was a faithful and dedicated member until the end.

He worked tirelessly in multiple ministries including the Trustee Board, Brotherhood Fellowship, Usher Board, Missionary, Member of the Senior Choir, Mass Choir, Mens Chorus, Cemetery Committee, repair man, Mr. Fix-it and all around Mr. Get it Done. He deeply loved his church and took great pride in being a disciple and doing the work of the Lord.

John was educated in the Caroline County Public school system where he graduated in 1965. He was nominated by his peers in school as "Best Dressed" and held his honor throughout his life. After graduation he worked with Walter Lowe as a carpenter building homes. He started his career with Washington Gas Light Company where he worked until retirement. After retirement he worked numerous jobs from retail, truck driver & security, to name a few.

John lived a life of Christ and used every moment to share the love of Jesus with others. He used every trial as a testimony to God's enduring love and never ending faithfulness. John will be remembered for his love of music, gardening, manicuring his lawn, keeping his cars meticulously clean and most of all being a servant for the Lord.

John leave to inherit his legacy of faith and precious memory to his loving wife Dorothy; two children: Melissa & Letitia (Kelvin); one brother: Curtis (Lynn); two sisters: Fraulein (William), Ellen (Willie); four grandchildren: Jamal (London), Lorenzo (Chianne), Kiersten (Ali) , and Aliyah; three great grandchildren: Zasmine, Ariyana & Jayceon and a host of nieces and nephews.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not to me only, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
