James Lomax

James Edward Lomax, known as “Jimmy” was born on June 25, 1934, in Caroline County to the late Frank and Nellie Lomax. He was educated in the Essex County Public School System. He joined Ebenezer Baptist Church and accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age.
Jimmy worked for J.A. Laporte and Metro in Northern Virginia for several years. In 1998, after 30 years of loyal service, he retired form Davenport Insulation in Fredericksburg, Virginia. During his leisure time he loved to work in his garden, cooking, watching western movies and helping anyone in need.
In 1966, he met Pauline Wheeler and her five children whom he raised as his own, and sent to school, two received college degrees. After the death of his father, Jimmy helped his mother raise his sister and brothers. He made it possible for them to be educated and have all of their needs met. One brother, William Lomax, preceded him in death. Jimmy was a wonderful friend to all who knew him. He had great love and affection for all the children he knew.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving wife, Pauline Lomax of Woodford, VA; three daughters, Katrenia Wheeler of King George, VA, Arona Wheeler of Dumfries, VA, Angela Young of Woodford, VA; two son, Thomas Wheeler of Ruther Glen, VA, and O’Neal Wheeler of Hustle, VA; four brothers, Frank Sr., Russell, Charles Davis, and Robert Lomax, Sr. all of Hustle, VA; one aunt Ella Jackson of Mt. Landing, VA; five grandchildren, Andrea Wheeler, Michael Young, LaKeshia Wheeler, Janay Wheeler, and Thomas Wheeler, II; six sisters-in-law, Marion Lomax of Arlington, VA, Mable Lomax of Hustle, VA, Lois Mae Roy of Bowling Green, VA, Jean Wheeler of Bowling Green, VA, Roberta Cook of Spotsylvania, VA, and JoAnn Robinson of Fredericksburg, VA; two brothers-in-law, Will Kay of King George, VA, and Ernest Ellis of King George, VA; one daughter-in-law, Janifer Wheeler of Ruther Glen, VA, one son-in-law, Michael Young, Sr. of Ruther Glen, VA; twelve nieces, seven nephews, fourteen great nieces, fifteen great nephews, a special nephew, Travis, a devoted niece, Gail Henry, and a host of other relatives and friends.
