James H "Skeeter" Green

James Henry Green (Skeeter) entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
He was born on February 14, 1941, in Supply, Virginia, to the late William Henry and Lula Green.
At an early age, James gave his life to Christ, and later rededicated his life at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Supply, VA. James was a willing, devoted worker of the church, and served as Trustee, as well as worked faithfully and diligently on the maintenance of the church grounds. He was honored to serve God through his many gifts and talents.
James' father passed away at an early age, and he willingly accepted the responsibility to provide for his family. In 1977, he united in Holy Matrimony with Dorothy Green (Tootie), the love of his life.
Skeeter was an honest, self-made, business owner, though he recognized where his many blessings came from. He entered into the concrete finishing business in the 1960's, and saw the opportunity to maximize his laboring skills by starting his own concrete business during the early 1990's, James Green Concrete Services.
Skeeter was passionate about the construction industry, and any opportunity where he could put his hands and mind towards the creation of something new; brick work, carpentry, and landscaping. Anyone who knew Skeeter, knew that he was a hardworking, humbled man who gained peace and comfort just by his abilities to lend a hand to someone in need. His day was fulfilled and complete when he was able to come home and tell a story of how he was able to help someone who could benefit from his talents.
James was a retired, avid driver in the drag racing industry, which he maintained for approximately 30 years. He was the proud owner of Fat Rat Racing, a racing business that he started to support the purchase of his own big block, 1970 Chevy Nova. Skeeter was like a kid in a candy store whenever he heard the roar of that car, and retired it home after every race, with his wife, Dorothy Green, as part of his night pit crew.
Skeeter enjoyed watching sports with his grandsons, and like it or not, he was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He was also an avid fisherman in his past time, and was known for the size catfish he could pull in, that he enjoyed sharing with his church family and friends.
He is preceded in death by one son, Jesse Brown; five siblings: William H. Green, Wilson Green, Anniebell Covington, Beatrice Johnson, and Catherine Ferguson. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his loving wife and soul mate Dorothy Green; his six children, one son: Jamie Green (Jennifer), five daughters, Tiffany Bumbrey, Christi Coleman, DeeAnna Green (Lamonte), Keisha M. Green, and Cressina Woolfolk (Damian); fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and business associates.
