James A. Brown

James Alexander "Alex" Brown was called to rest on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Bowling Green Healthcare Center.

The son of the late John (Buck) and Cora Bell Brown, he was born April 19, 1925.

Alex received his education in Stafford County Public Schools and joined St. Stephens Baptist Church of King George, Virginia at an early age.

He lived and worked in Washington, D.C. for many years before returning home to work until his retirement. Alex enjoyed his retirement years gardening, landscaping, and visiting family and friends.

Cherishing his memory is one sister, Emma Cole of Bowling Green, three nephews, William Cole (Ann) of Rappahannock Academy, Raymond Cole (Pam) of Port Royal, Va., and Valee Coghill (Lennette) of Hustle, Va., two sisters-in-law, Hilda White and Jeanette Canada (Willie), one brother-in-law, Warren Conway (Hattie), and many other great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
