Isabell Hurley Jones, affectionately known as "Bell", was born July 28, 1930 in Leedstown, Westmoreland County Virginia, to the late Clifton Hurley and Eunice Henry. She departed this life on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the home of her daughter after a short illness.
Isabell was educated in the Westmoreland County Public Schools. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Grants Hill Baptist Church. She relocated to Lexington Park, Maryland and later joined the New Mt. Olivet Apostolic Church, in Seat Pleasant, MD, under the leadership of Bishop Hopeton W. Mair, Sr.
Isabell retired from the Department of Justice, Washington, DC after ten years of service. She later worked with the St. Mary's County Commission on Aging as a Senior Companion, which she enjoyed and also she loved working with her daughter and son-in-law in their catering business.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies included sewing her own clothes, cooking, gardening, fishing with her sons and cousin. She also enjoyed singing and traveling.
Isabell was united in holy matrimony and to that union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her son Davie E. Jones and grandson Davie A. Jones.
Isabell leaves to cherish fond memories; one daughter Carleen (Douglas) James, of Fort Washington, Maryland. Three sons Charles (Louise) of Clinton, Maryland; Raymond (Annie) of Colonial Beach, Virginia; and Dennis Jones of Lexington Park, Maryland. eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. One sister Roberta Hickman, of Washington, DC, One sister-in-law Diane Henry of Sacramento, California and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. A devoted cousin Lula Mae Clayton of Jacksonville, Florida. Two special daughter-in-laws Jacqueline Berry of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Annette Jones of Richmond, Virginia.
