Irene Johnson age 83 was born December 9, 1931 in Enfield, North Carolina to the late Julius and Annie Taylor. "Duke" as Irene was affectionately known by family and friends went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Renita Hayes in King George, Virginia.
Irene received her education in the public schools of Washington, D.C. and accepted Christ into her life at an early age.
In 1963, Irene was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert Thomas Johnson, Sr. and settled in King George, Virginia.
Irene enjoyed cooking, and being with her family and friends. Irene also loved her First Baptist Church family and spending time riding with her friend Gwen Dudley.
Irene's life was enhanced by the following children: Betty Graham, Carolyn Kirkland, Garry Michaux, Alfred Michaux, Jr., Annis Holder, Lynette Lewis, Dale Lewis, Renita Hayes, and Robert Johnson, Jr.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents Julius and Annie, Husband: Robert; Children: Annis, Lynette, and Alfred; Siblings: Catherine Irving, Hazel Taylor, Curtis Taylor, Clyde Taylor, and Leonard Taylor.
Irene is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory six children; three daughters; Betty (Samuel) Graham, Carolyn Kirkland, and Renita (Gilbert) Hayes, three sons; Garry Michaux, Dale Lewis, and Robert (Collette) Johnson, Jr.; twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren three sisters; Lucille Taylor, Corine Armstrong and Hazel Taylor three sister in laws; Doris Johnson, Mary (Calvin) Grimes, and Marie (George) Berkley; two brother in laws; Ernest Lee Johnson and Edward Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
