On August 27, 2019, Ida Mae Jackson quietly entered into eternal rest with her heavenly father. She was born February 28, 1924 to the late Arthur L. and Nannie Pryor Tyler of Dahlgren, VA. She attended the Edgehill Training School in King George County, VA.
On August 2, 1947, she married Clarence P. Jackson of Dahlgren, VA. Happily with God’s Blessings, they were married for 72 years. From this union, they were Blessed with 4 daughters and two sons. After many years of marriage, she along with her husband raised 3 grandchildren and one special great nephew.

Ida Mae joined Little Ark Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. George Carter. She joined the Usher Board and remained a doorkeeper for the Lord for 65 years, attending church faithfully every Sunday. After retiring she was made an Honorary member of the Usher Board.

Ida Mae was a member of the Guiding Star Chapter 216 (OES) and was the Worthy Matron from 2000 to 2001. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary number 329, a lifetime member of King George’s NAACP and Ralph Bunche Alumni.

Ida Mae worked as a domestic for various families in the community in her early adult life. She loved family gatherings with family and friends. Laughing, talking and just having fun. She enjoyed bowling in a league and playing bingo with her close friends.

She leaves to celebrate her home going, a loving and dedicated husband, Clarence P. Jackson, 6 children, Carolyn Milton, White Plains, MD; Willie Jackson (Phyllis), King George, VA; George Jackson, Dahlgren, VA; Shirley Jackson, District Heights, MD; Hazel Robinson, District Heights, MD; Sheila Jackson, District Heights, MD. One sister Helen Newman, King George, VA and one brother, Ranier Tyler, CA. Nine grandchildren, Jocelyn Ward (Jerome) Waldorf, MD; Andre’ Roach, Ft. Washington, MD; Petra Jackson, Fredericksburg, VA; Antonio Jordan, Caroline County, VA; Patrick Jackson, Waldorf, MD; Brenda Jackson-Pryor (Corey), King George, VA; Tamika Randall, Suitland, MD; Katrina Jackson District Heights, MD; and Eric Jackson, Dahlgren, VA. Nine great grandchildren. One special daughter, Laurie Bland, Dahlgren, VA. A special niece Phyllis Johnson, Dahlgren, VA and a special nephew Aaron Lewis. Two Godchildren, Vivian Whiting, King George, VA and Bernard Harris (preceded in death). Five brothers, two sisters, and one grandchild preceded her in death.

She also leaves six sisters-in-law, Barbara Richards, MD; Dorothy Toliver (Joseph), Ohio; Brenda Johnson, MD; Inez Jackson, VA; Mary Jackson, VA; and Irma Jackson, VA. A host of nieces and nephews. Also a close friend Dorothy Grant, Dahlgren, VA.
