On Thursday, April 15, 2004, God called brother Horace Anthony Davis Sr. home to rest at Mary Washington Hospital. Horace was affectionately called ''Fats'' and ''Fat Back'' by his family and friends. Horace was born on July 5, 1954 in Westmoreland County to the late Reuben and Dorothy Lucille Davis. Horace received his education in Westmoreland Co. Public Schools and graduated from Washington and Lee High School in 1974. At an early age, Horace accepted Christ and joined the Little Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. W.S. Devaughn. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Arlene Jordan on June 24,1978.Horace worked for the National Park Service for 20 years until he retired due to his health. After recovering, he was employed by the King George County Public Schools as a bus driver and courier. He also worked as a special police officer at the Colonial Beach Drag Way and sold vegetables until his health failed him once again.
Horace loved music and he sang with his father on the Gospel Kings and Gospel Zioneers. He was the first to play the tuba for Washington and Lee Band. He was a D.J. whose trade name was ''Fat Back''. He was a member of a motorcycle club and he enjoyed bowling. He was a devoted husband, father and brother.
