Henry L. Shepherd

Henry Lee Shepherd, son of the late Walterfield and Rosa Lee Shepherd was born on August 30, 1928 in Sparta, VA. He departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2003 at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA.

Henry accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Sparta, VA.

Henry was educated in the public schools of Caroline County. He was joined in holy matrimony to Thelma Pearl Baylor. Faithful to their vows, ''in sickness or health, for richer or poorer, till death do us part,'' this union was blessed with fifty-two years of marriage. God enriched their joy with eight children; two of whom preceded him in death-Veronica Elizabeth Shepherd and Bessie Mae Lewis.

He was employed at Virginia Department of Transportation for forty-one years until his retirement.

Cherishing Henry's memory are his devoted wife Thelma Pearl Shepherd; three sons, Henry Lee Shepherd Jr., Anthony Shepherd and Contee Shepherd, all of Bowling Green, VA.; three daughters, Cynthia Cypress of Woodbridge, VA., Anita Godfrey of Triangle, VA., and Devioau Shepherd of Bowling Green, VA.; two brothers, Larney Shepherd and Floyd Shepherd both of Bowling Green, VA.; one brother-in-law, Ancil Baylor of Bowling Green, VA.; two sister-in-law, Vernice Shepherd of Bowling Green, VA. and Dulaney Randolph of Spotsylvania, VA.; one son-in-law, Robert Cypress of Woodbridge, VA.; two daughters-in-law, Felicia Shepherd of Bowling Green, VA. and Tiajuana Shepherd of Fort Washington, MD.; eighteen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
