On February 11, 1936, Theodore Bundy and Mable Roy were blessed with a beautiful baby girl that they named Helen Delores Roy. And on September 10, 2022 that same baby girl was transcended into God’s heavenly floristry. Upon her arrival, she was reunited with her soulmate, John Brown, wearing that same contagious smile that had captured her heart over a half century plus a decade ago.
She was employed by BookCrafters where she worked closely with many family and friends. After retiring, Helen devoted her time traveling, working with multiple craft projects, and creating floral arrangements. Her travels were not on just 2, 3 or 4 wheels; her mode of transportation by air and sea allowed her to visit other countries. But of course, her favorite was riding with her husband on his Goldwing. In addition to traveling, Helen took pride in creative various crafty diaper cakes for the “Moms to Be” in her community. Lastly, her church family would marvel over the seasonal display of floral arrangement in the sanctuary.
Having the ability to produce various floral displays gave her the title of church decorator. Helen took that title to the next level by making sure various holiday traditions were honored. Just to name a couple… In preparation for Palm Sunday, She would purchase, cut, pin the palm in order to distribute to the entire congregation and during Advent month, she would make sure the candle display was in place. In addition to church decorator, Helen being a kind hearted, caring, and loving member of EBC lead her to join Nurse, Usher, and Missionary Ministries. Her love for EBC was so profound that she joined as a child and faithfully remained until she gained her wings.
Helen was blessed to see 86 years of God’s grace and mercy. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Percy Brown of Philadelphia, PA., Deirdre (Keith) Smith of Woodford, VA., Jonathan (Bridgette) Brown of Port Royal, VA., and Mabel (Michael) Brown of Spotsylvania, VA., eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two god-daughters Rolanda Wallace-Taylor of Supply, VA., and Markecia Myers of Port Royal, VA., one brother, Charles Bundy of Philadelphia, PA., two sister, Julia(Ronnie) Vincent of Smyrna, DE., and Brenda Bundy of Philadelphia, PA., one brother-in-law Charles(Virginia) Brown, one sister-in-law Nancy Myers, and one niece- in- law (considered as a sister- in-law) Ann (William) Cole all of Port Royal, VA., her close good friend, Fannie Lee of King George, VA., and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
