Harry Delanco Coleman was born to Rogers and Fannie Coleman on October 31, 1948 in Essex County, Virginia. He departed this life and entered into eternal peace on September 15, 2021.
Harry attended public schools in Caroline County, Virginia. At a young age he took on the responsibility of upbringing his younger siblings alongside his mother after the death of their father. He served his country in the United States Army from January 1969 until January 1975. Harry was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and was well known for his infectious smile. He worked fulltime at Long Fence for many years and recently retired in 2020; even after retiring his hard work ethic continued at Long Fence during the colder seasons. He enjoyed gardening alongside his long time partner Laura Backus affectionately known as “Carolyn”. Harry also loved to hunt, fish and “hit the number” He would often speak of good times he had with his best friend Bob in the mountains.
Preceding him in his heavenly walk were, his parents Rogers and Fannie Coleman, his three brothers Harvey, Amos and Randy Coleman, one sister, Beverly Coleman and a very special child he loved as his own Lauren Byrd whom he held very dear to his heart.
He leaves fond memories of great past times with honorary children Tony, Jesse Jr, and Tonia Coleman, five brothers: Roy, John, Lewis , Eddie (Lett) and Charlie (Barbara) Coleman, three sisters: Elsie (Keith) Johnson, Shirley Coleman, and Earlene (Robert) Richards; his beloved lifelong partner of 27 years Laura Backus , a very special child he loved as his own, Caira Byrd, a special great nephew JaQuarius Griffin, 4 aunts: Gladys Johnson, Helen Morgan, Addie Fortune, and Emma Childs, one best friend Bob Davis, a dear co- worker and fiend Robert Nelson, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
