Gregory Franklin Parker, the son of George F. Parker and the Reverend Annie L. Parker was born on November 8, 1957 in Fredericksburg, VA. He departed this life on Monday, March 23, 2015 at his home in King George, VA.
At an early age Gregory accepted Christ and joined Antioch Baptist Church, King George, VA. He later joined Good Hope Baptist Church by Christian experience under the Pastorate of Reverend Ronald E. Dunaway where he remained a member until he passed. His favorite scripture was Psalm 27 of which he could quote several verses.
Gregory started his education in King George County Public Schools and completed his education at The New School/ Saint George€™s Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, VA and received a Certificate of Completion from the American School which was chartered in 1867. He later attended Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Center in Staunton, VA where he studied Upholstery.
Gregory was employed at Hornes Restaurant in Port Royal, VA, the Naval Surface Weapons Center, Dahlgren, VA (Special Program) and at Morgantown Power Plant PEPCO, Newburg, MD.
Gregory had a great love for music and spent many hours listening to smooth jazz, R&B and other easy listening music on his radio.
He was preceded in death by his sister Bessie Ann Parker Bumbrey with whom he shared a very special relationship.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his parents Deacon George F. and Reverend Annie L. Parker; two brothers, Reverend James Ervin Parker (Barbara) of King George, VA and George Gilbert Parker (Debbie) of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Rachel Darlene Parker of Bronx, NY; a special cousin , Joyce C. Pratt (Charlie) of King George, VA; aunts, Dr. Lillian P. Wright of Norfolk, VA, Gloria Hortense Smith of Oak Grove, VA; uncles, Johnnie H. Mc Downey(Bessie) of Colonial Beach, VA, Harry E. Mc Downey (Carasile), Charles S. Parker, and John Parker all of King George, , VA, Cleveland H. Mc Downey of Fayetteville, NC, Dairl W. Mc Downey (Alda) of Clinton, MD, Garnett Parker of Fredericksburg, VA, Leroy Parker (Marjorie) of Washington, DC; and Great Uncle, Veola Mc Downey (Evelyn) Fort Washington, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
