Geraldine Pollard

Geraldine Quiver Pollard was born in Washington D.C. to Oscar Quivers and Jennie Greene on September 26th1921, and departed this life from Spotsylvania, Virginia for her home in Heaven on May 9th, 2014. Her childhood was a tumultuous one. She and her siblings were sent to foster care at an early age after the death of her mother. She and her youngest sister, Homezelle were kept together and were shifted from one foster home to another. Geraldine was a mild mannered, soft spoken person and kind person who had many youthful challenges; however she was blessed with an education which allowed her to take care of herself and her sister. Through her trials and struggles, Geraldine became a street crusader for the Lord. She dedicated her life to God, and took on the ministry of evangelism, witnessing to lost and downtrodden souls on the streets of the Nation's Capital. After she began employment with the Federal Government, she continued to minister through a "Church without Walls".
It was on one of the street campaigns when the Lord led her to a young man who would eventually fall in love with her and become her husband for 50 years, Carl E. Pollard Sr. They were married in New York City in 1958. No children were born to this union, but Mrs. Pollard received a blended family of 5 step-sons and 1 step-daughters. Geraldine's love for the Lord contributed to her dedication and lifelong service. Later, on her ministerial journey, she became a member of Evangel Temple at 610 Rhode Island Ave. in Washington D.C., Pastored by Bishop John Meares. The church later relocated to Upper Marlboro, MD where Bishop Don D. Meares became Pastor. She served faithfully as usher for 30 years before her health began to fail.
After multiple hospitalizations, and rehabilitation, Geraldine, unable to return to her home, God prepared a place for her in the home of her step-son Carl Pollard, and wife, Phyllis Pollard in Spotsylvania, Virginia. She resided there from July 2009 until May 8, 2014, when she graduated to glory.
Mrs. Pollard was preceded in death by: her devoted husband the late Carl Pollard Sr., two sisters Audrey Quivers, Homezelle Aycox and one brother Oscar Quivers.
Mrs. Pollard leaves to cherish her memories, four step son: Thomas Pollard (Carolyn), Tyrone Pollard (Rowena), Michael Pollard (Barbara) all of King George, VA and Carl Pollard Jr (Phyllis) of Spotsylvania, VA; One step daughter Venita Quander ( Michael) of Temple Hill, MD; One nephew Howard Stewart Jr of Spotsylvania, VA.
