Garnette E. Purce

I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8

Sister Garnette Estelle Ferguson Purce was born in Caroline County, Virginia on March 17, 1931, daughter of the late Deacon Herbert Andrew and Lillie Mae Roberson Ferguson. She was the eighth of twelve children. She received her education in the public Schools of Caroline County, Virginia.

She departed this life on August 9, 2012 at her residence at The Meadows of Colonial Beach, Virginia; after an extensive period of illness she had become tired and wanted to rest. As the family surrounded the bedside that morning saying their goodbyes, knowing God is on time and never makes any mistakes.

Sister Purce joined Little Zion Baptist Church, Oak Grove, Virginia at an early age and retained her membership until her passing. She had a passion and love for singing; was a member of the W.B. Scott Singers and Senior Choir.

Sister Pure was united in holy matrimony to the late Freddie Foster Purce on July 17, 1947, from this union eight children were born.

Her occupation was a domestic worker for many years until her health begun to fail. She was a very hard working individual that didn't mine supporting the family. She loved her family dearly.

Garnette had a heart of gold; anyone who needed anything could count on her. She was there to give without any expectations in return. Her love was unconditional and was shown and felt by all who crossed her path. She would give you a place to stay, prepare a plate of food or bless you financially.

She had many hobbies, she loved cooking lots of food, shopping with her sisters on a regular, and every now and then eating out at her favorite restaurants.

Her husband Freddie Foster Purce, Sr. preceded her in death, two sons Freddie Foster Purce, Jr. and Larry Noble Purce, nine sisters and one brother.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her six children, Audrey Ann Branson (Howard) of Colonial Beach, VA, Clayton Curtis Purce (Pamela) of King George, VA, Victoria P.
