Franklin Fitzhue Carter, Jr. was the eldest of five children born to Mary Bettie (Johnson) Carter and Franklyn Carter on May 28, 1931 in Caroline County, VA. He was raised in Passing, VA and graduated from Union High School in Bowling Green in June 1948. Following his graduation he moved to Brooklyn, NY to live with his Aunt Ruth (Johnson) and Uncle Dan Greene. He enlisted in the U.S.Army was deployed to Korea, awarded a Bronze Star and honorably discharged in 1953.
Following his service, he moved back to Brooklyn and met his loving wife Alice V. FitzRoy. After a brief courtship they married on July 2, 1955 and settled in West Hempstead, Long Island, NY. Franklin provided for his family as a skilled carpenter and builder with clients throughout the tri-state area.
After a long illness, Franklin passed away quietly at his West Hempstead, NY home surrounded by family members. Franklin leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: his wife Alice, his children Deborah (Mark), Annette (Paul), Yvette, Denise (Laura), David (deceased), Tony (Lori), Diane (Darryl), twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren his brother David (Ethel) and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
