Frank L. Minor, slipped quietly into eternal rest on May 6, 2002, at the Warsaw Health Care Center, Warsaw, Virginia. He was born on August 27, 1921, to the late Allen Lloyd and Addie Mont Minor, the oldest of eight siblings in Milford, Virginia. He attended public schools in Caroline County, Virginia. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and united with St. John Baptist Church, Milford, Virginia, where he remained a member until death.
“Daddy Frank,” as he was fondly called, began work at an early age. First at Blanton Farm and then he was employed with the Civilian Conservation Camp where he worked on conservation efforts of the county to build roads, trails, and performed general tasks. After a considerable length of time, he was employed by Blanton Trucking Company for 45 years. He received many Safe Driving Awards during his tenure. After retiring from Blanton Trucking Company, Daddy Frank worked with various trucking companies. He dedicated more than 50 years to the trucking industry. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #125 in Bowling Green, Virginia.
On November 3, 1942, he married his childhood sweetheart, Elfletta Chatman and they were married for 53 years. From this union, seven sons were born, Lloyd Eugene of Clinton, MD, Oliver Wendall of Upper Marlboro, MD, Frank, Jr., of Pikesville, MD; Calvin Corzell of Fairfax, VA, James Eldon of Upper Marlboro, MD, Herbert Leon and Marcell Alonzo, both of Oxon Hill, MD.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three brothers, Alphonso and Purcell, both of Milford, Virginia, and Reginald of Golansville, Virginia; two sisters, Lorraine Lawrence, and Vivian Claxton of Philadelphia, PA. He has twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Frank was an obedient servant of God. He exemplified the love of Christ in every aspect of his life as evidenced by his lifestyle, his daily actions, and his love for God, family, and his church.
