Frank Edward Holmes was born to Ada Elizabeth Cook Holmes and John Burnett Holmes on February 10, 1930. Frank departed this life peacefully on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, King George, VA surrounded by relatives and friends.
Frank was educated in the King George County public school system. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and joined the Salem Baptist Church. He served on the Trustee Board and was chairman for many years. He later joined Restoration Worship Center.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War during which he was injured and received a Purple Heart. He received an honorable discharge. He was employed at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA for 32 years in the Fuel System Department. He was married to Mildred Ashton on January 27, 2007. He loved working with woodwork, gardening, manicuring the lawn from which he received great enjoyment. He was a jovial man and received great satisfaction in making others laugh.
Frank leaves to cherish his fond memories a loving wife, Mildred A. Holmes; a daughter, Janice (Victor); two grandchildren, Victor Jr. and Taylor of San Antonio, TX; and one brother, Robert Holmes of King George, VA. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and one special niece, Gloria Jett who was there every step of the way during his illness and stay at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
