And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit," that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!" Revelation 14:13
Franetta Ann Shepherd Davis was born July 10, 1946, in Caroline County, Virginia to Deacon George and Deaconess Agnes Shepherd. She departed this life on Sunday, September 9, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Franetta received her education in Caroline County, Virginia, graduating from Union High School in 1964. She also graduated from the Commonwealth College, Richmond, Virginia.
Franetta joined Zion Grove Baptist Church at an early age. Prior to moving back to Caroline County, Franetta reunited with Zion Grove and served as the Church's Clerk travelling from her home in Richmond several times a week for meetings. She served as the Clerk for eight years, even during her illness she continued to serve. Franetta worked with many auxiliaries of the Church, but according to her, her calling was to be an "active" missionary. She enjoyed the Missionary Ministry and served as its Chairperson. She initiated and scheduled monthly visits to the Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center. She enjoyed carrying the gospel of comfort and deliverance to the sick and shut-ins. She enjoyed the patients as much as they enjoyed her visit. Even during her illness she tried to gather enough strength for the monthly visit. Franetta was an avid Bible student. While living in Richmond she attended several Bible study classes weekly. She loved studying the Bible and sharing God's word.
Franetta leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, James Davis; daughter, Brittany; step-son, Christopher; parents, Deacon George and Deaconess Agnes Shepherd; two devoted brothers, George ("Carnell") and Phillip ("Phil"); four aunts, Deaconess Hortense Collins, Mrs. Mary Younger, Mrs. Annie Graves, and one devoted aunt and care giver, Deaconess Shirley Dandridge; one uncle, John Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Peacefully sleeping, resting at last,
The world's weary trouble and trials are past,
In silence you suffered, in patience you bore,
Till God called you home to suffer no more.
In Loving Memory,
The family
