Floyd Shepherd

Suddenly on Monday, October 6,2003, God called Daddy, one of his faithful servants from Labor to Rest at St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, Va.

Floyd Shepherd, son of the late Warfield and Rosa Lee Shepherd was born on October 9, 1934 in Sparta, Va. Floyd accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Floyd graduated in 1953 from Union High School in Bowling Green, Va. Immediately after graduation, he was drafted to the Army for a brief period. Once returning, he gained employment with Virginia Highway Department of Transportation where he retired after 40 years of faithful service.

Floyd was fondly called ''Shep'' and ''Pop'' by those who loved him. He always spoke his mind. Whenever you saw Floyd, he was always working, if not for himself, doing for others.

Floyd was united in holy matrimony with the former Caroline Childs. Out of this union, he leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters and one step-daughter, Valerie N. Alexander of Oxon Hill, Md.; Cealia Shepherd-Joppy of Hyattsville, Md.; Baron (Betty) Shepherd of Bowling Green, Va.; Wresby Sinclair of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one brother, Larney Shepherd of Bowling Green, Va.; two sisters-in-laws, Thelma Shepherd and Vernice Shepherd both of Bowling Green, Va.; one brother-in-law, Ancil Baylor of Bowling Green, Va.; two son-in-laws, Bernard Alexander of Oxon Hill, Md. and Richard Joppy of Gaithersburg, Md.; 13 grandchildren, Tunisha, Bernard III, Brian, Eugene, Lloyd, DeAngelo, Cierra, Brittany,DeMonte, Nile, Khali, Khalan, Khajilah, one great-granchild, Nardee'. A devoted cousin, Mildred Shepherd, two special daughters, Sophia and Kieasha of Milford, Va. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.
