Flossie Lee Carter

Flossie Lee Carter was born on February 22, 1920 in Shumansville, VA to the late Laura Belle Lee. She was the youngest of eight children, seven preceeded her in death. She joined the Mt. Tabor Baptist Churchat an early age. She attended church faithfully until her health began to fail her. She taught the Card class at Sunday School, working with small children for many years. She was a member of the Senoir Choir since the year of 1942 as the Recording Secretary. Flossie took joy in fellowshiping with the Senior Citizens and attending night class at St. James.

On September 18, 1952 she was married to the late Robert Russell Carter and to this union two children were born, Lorene Vanessa and Gertrude Ann. She lived in Shumansville most of her life until she moved to Bowling Green to the Senoir Citizen apartments in 1982.

She has 4 grandchildren, Rosalind N. Carter, Jonathan W. Sheperd, Sr., Devron G. Carter, Candra c. Bowman, one son-in-law Melvin Wright, three great-grandchildren, Jonathan W. Shepherd, II, Anerria and Ananda Carter, two step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren, four nephews, William Bates, Lewis Lee, Earl Lee and Robert Lee, niece Florence Garnett, numberous great neices and nephews,three sister-in-laws, Eula Lee, Rozell Carter and Bessie Carter, one brother-in-law James Sam Carter, numerous great neices and nephews, some special Eve, Pookie, Diane and Cat, two special friends Ada Harris and Mary E. Childs.
