Fermon Ray Ashton

When a great man dies, for years the light he leaves behind shines on the hearts of those he loved.

Fermon R. Ashton left this world to be with his heavenly father on May 17, 2023. He was born in Westmorland County on May 13, 1939. Fermon grew up in Westmorland but lived most of his life in King George County. He worked for many years at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA. But his heart was found in doing his work for God. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Ministry and served as Chairman of Management and Development for the Mount Bethel Baptist Association.

Fermon leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Ashton, and their two daughters, Vonia Ashton-Grigsby and Sheryl Ashton-Jones. His Celebration of Life Services will be held at noon on May 27, 2023, at Good Hope Baptist Church, 17223 Good Hope Road, King George, VA. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM to service time at noon.
