Everette "Ed" Byrd

Everette Byrd son of the late Frank and Otha Byrd was born March 4, 1939 in Essex County, Virginia. On August 15, 2014 he finished his earthly duties and peacefully slipped into eternal rest with the Lord at his residence.
Affectionately known as "Ed" by his family and friends received his education from the public school system of Westmoreland County, Virginia. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was united with the Grants Hill Baptist Church, Leedstown, Virginia. He later changed his membership to Little Zion Baptist Church to being services with his wife and family.
Only July 22, 1961 Ed married his lifelong sweetheart, Rose Ella Fortune. To this union three daughters and one son was born in which one daughter and his son predeceased him.
During his life journey Ed was employed by Ingleside Plantation Nursery and King George Public School System where he retired in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with the Round Hill Hunt Club, and raising and selling vegetables. Ed also liked playing baseball, dancing, posing for pictures, watching sports on television, was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his loving and devoted wife Rose Ella Byrd, two daughters: Barbara Smith and Lawanda Smith; two son-in-laws: Raymond Smith and Sylvester Smith all of Colonial Beach, Virginia, One daughter-in-law: Mary Byrd of Boston, Massachusetts; Mother-In-law Anita Byrd of Temple Hill, Maryland; five grandchildren: Angela Turner (Melvin), Angelo Cox, Jr., Ashley Smith, Christopher Graham, and LaKeshia Smith. Two great-grandchildren: Ki'Asiah and Melvin Turner. One sister: Beatrice Berry (William) of Fort Washington, Maryland, three brother: Charles Byrd (Alberta), Thomas Byrd (Rosa Marie), and Milton Byrd, all of Colonial Beach, Virginia. Three very special friends: Michael Graham, Raymond Smith and Sue Stone, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
