Everett Preston Lewis, affectionately known as "Preston" was born December 17, 1934 to the late Raymond and Ethel Lewis. He was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in the presence of his loving family.
A veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and was honorably discharged. He worked as a machinist for NSWC in Dahlgren, Virginia for many years.
At an early age he accepted Christ and joined Little Ark Baptist Church in Owens, Virginia.
He married Agnes "Tee Tee" Savoy on January 27, 1977. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2009.
Having lived in Dahlgren, Virginia most of his life, he and his wife moved to Waldorf, Maryland to reside.
He was a member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #314 in King George, Virginia. He loved "his" Washington Redskins and spent time watching sports, the news, and working in his puzzle books. He enjoyed spending time with his family and talking on the phone. In earlier years, he was an excellent dancer and he loved to sing. An avid gardner, he loved planting flowers and doing yard work. He enjoyed decorating, and doing odd jobs around the house, and offered to help anyone in need. Bowling was another passion.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Katrina Jackson, and Jessie Gurley; his son-in-law, Earl Gurley, two grandchildren, Latory West (Reginald) and James E. Gurley, Jr. "AJ"; brothers and sisters-in-law: Chester "Gump" and Evelyn Lewis, Dorothy "Dottie" and Nathaniel Exum; Charles "Tootie" Lewis, Raymond "Junnie" Lewis, Savannah "Bessie" Halliburton, L. Phillip "Ike" Lewis, Roberta "Sissy" Holmes and Elisabeth "Liz" Lewis; other in-laws include: Mary B. Toye, John Savoy and his wife Shena, James Savoy, his wife Marthea, George Calvin Savoy, his wife, Cheryldale, a godchild, Fabian Toye; his aunts and uncles Ida and Clarence Jackson, Helen Newman, Simon "Peter" and Margaret Tyler; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
