Evelyn V. Blaze

Evelyn Virginia Sayles Blaze gained her eternal wings on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, after victoriously conquering two previous battles with Breast Cancer.

Evelyn was born on August 21, 1950, in Port Royal, Virginia to the late Ralph and Josephine Sayles. Evelyn was a graduate of Union High School. On October 21, 1967 she married the love of her life Harold Paul Blaze. The two shared over 50 years of marriage and from their union two daughters were born, Shantay and LaToya.

At a young age, Evelyn became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her homegoing. In 2012, she retired from Market Fare Foods with 36 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Paul Blaze, her brothers James Otis Wheeler and Leroy Wheeler along with her parents Ralph & Josephine Sayles.

She leaves her two daughters, Shantay Blaze-Henderson and LaToya Blaze to celebrate her life and cherish her memories. One son-in-law, Larry Henderson. Son of the heart, John Hicks. Four grandchildren, De’Von Hicks, Dy’Mon Blaze, Ni’Vek Lewis & LaTrey Henderson. Sister and Best Friend, Flossie Lewis. Cherished brother-in-law, Percy Lewis. Brothers–in-law, Arthur Blaze (Lucille) and Edward Blaze (Rosalind). Sisters-in-law, Ruby Randall, Gustavia Mouton and Helen Stewart. Two God Children, Leonard Mouton & Janet Cook. Two Honorary God daughters, Rainia and Jenaee’ McWhirter. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends, too many to name but all deeply loved.
