Evelina Johnson

Evelina Johnson departed this life on Monday, April 27, 2009 at her home in Dahlgren, Virginia. She was born on May 19, 1926 to the late Chunehal and Sammy Hamilton in Sande Grande, Trinidad.

Evelina was educated in the public schools in Trinidad.

She married Preston Johnson in November 1959 in St. James, Trinidad. They resided in Jamaica, New York for 39 years where she opened their home to several family members. While in New York she worked as a nurse's aide in Jamaica Hospital. She enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the world.

In 1979, they moved to Dahlgren, Virginia and shortly after built a new home. After a few months, Evelina joined Little Ark Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. John W. Chapman, Sr. She regularly attended her church until her health began to fail her. Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 23.

She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Johnson, three sisters, Rose, Albertina, and Min and brother, Roy.

Evelina leaves to cherish her loving memories her devoted husband, Deacon Preston Johnson, her goddaughter Roslyn Jagbir, Montclair, New Jersey, her nephew Desmond (Carmen) Jackbir, Queens, New York, Stephen (Shirley) Roberts, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Russell (Jennifer) Jagbir and Lennie Jagbir, all of St. James, Trinidad, Barry (Judith) Jagbir, Dahlgren, VA., her niece, Margaret Jagbir, Orange, New Jersey, her sister-in law, Romay Davis, Montgomery, Alabama, her brother-in-law, Stansberry Johnson, LaPalmera, California, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
