Evelena D. Coleman

Evelena Doreather Coleman was born on May 29, 1957 in Westmoreland County to Delorise Pierce and the late Morris "Buck" Hodge. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and joined the First Baptist Church of Colonial Beach, VA. She attended Westmoreland County Public Schools. She worked hard as a Custodian for 14 years at Mary Washington Rehabilitation Center of Colonial Beach.

Evelena was a person who saw the good in everyone. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her Peter, grandchildren, friends, and family. She loved taking care of her pets, Black girl, Blue eyes, Baby, and especially Casper. Her other interest included cooking, cleaning, and traveling with Peter. You would often find her sitting on her porch, drinking coffee, and enjoying the morning weather. She was sometimes referred to as the bouncer of the family. They would say that her walk told it all. Her life reflected the saying "Always take care of home first."

She transitioned to eternal life on Friday, March 29, 2013, joining her father and sisters; Darlene and Linda Pierce in heaven.

Cherishing the memories and legacies of Evelena's life will continue to live on in the hearts of her surviving family. Her devoted lifelong partner of 26 years Ronald "Peter" Lucas. Her daughter, Tiffany Coleman of Colonial Beach; one son, Ronnie Coleman "R.C." of King George; two grandchildren, Zorion Turner and Aaleyah (Lady) Coleman; two sisters, Teresa Parker (John) of Montross and Elouise McDowney (James) of Port Royal; Three brothers, Morris Pierce (Melinda) and Aloysius Pierce of Colonial Beach, Floyd Pierce (Ehemiah) of Montross. Special friends Mildren Lucas (Boots), Tokeiya Roy, Vivian Lucas (Kitty) and Audra Lucas-Peyton (Babysis); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Evelena touched the lives of many. We could never forget her love, the joy and warmth she shared with her siblings, children, and other family members.
