Ethel L. Shanklin

Mrs. Ethel Louise Shanklin, 69, of King George, Va passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Born October 2, 1938 in Colonial Beach, Va, she was the loving daughter of Mr. Aloysius Pierce and Mrs. Bessie Pierce, who preceded her to glory.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Charlie Shanklin on April 7, 1956.

At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and joined the First Baptist Church, Colonial Beach and later upon moving to King George, joined Union Bethel Baptist Church, King George, Va.

She is survived by a loving and caring husband of 51 years, Charlie; nine children, Mary Newman and her husband Ricky, Betty Jenkins and her husband James, Charlie and his wife Jean, Wayne, Cynthia, William and his wife Peggy, Albert, Timothy, Stacy and his wife Dee; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ms. Rodester Brown and Ms. Delorise Pierce; two uncles, Mr. Edward Brown and his wife Berniece, Mr. Joshua Brown and his wife Matilda; two aunts, Mrs. Elmira Watts and Mrs. Virginia Jett; a brother-in-law, Henry Brown and his wife Shirley; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a faithful friend, Midnight, her little Chihuahua.
