Ethel B. Jarvis, the second daughter of the late Clinton and Priscilla Bundy, was born on September 25, 1931. Early, at the dawning of a new day on January 2, 2007, God sent His Angels to summon our dear mother, sister and aunt to come home for her eternal rest.
As a young girl, Ethel professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. A.B. Smith. She served her church faithfully as an Usher, Custodian, and as a member of the Voices of Hope Choir, Hospitality, Missinoary and Seniors in Action Ministries.
Ethel received her formal education in the public schools of Caroline County and graduated from Union High School in 1949. She worked for and retired from the Macy's (formerly Hecht's) for over thirty years as a Sales Associate.
Ethel was a lovely, friendly person who loved to read during her leisure hours. She dearly loved her sisters, her children and her grandchildren. She loved to be the ''mother hen'' of the home where she stayed busy ''cleaning or doing something.'' She was also an avid gardener who loved to plant and pamper her vegetables, flowers, plants and shrubery.
On September 13, 1951, she was joined in holy matrimony with the late Lawrence Jarvis, Sr., and this union was blessed with two sons: Howard D. Jarvis and Lawrence D. Jarvis, Jr.
Ethel leaves to cherish fond memories two sons, Howard D. Jarvis, Decatur, Ga., and Lawrence D. Jarvis, Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren, Lamont Turner, Decatur, Ga., Derrick L. Holmes, Alexandria, Va., Ayana Moss, Decatur, Ga., and Lawrence R. Jarvis, Covington, Ga., one sister, Carolyn B. Johnson (her sisters Ercell Bundy and Rae Boxley preceded her in death); two nieces, Dayle Brown and Sheila Allen and one nephew, Kenneth Brown, all of Fredericksburg, Va.; devoted cousins, Ethel Johnson(Prophet), Philadelphia, Pa., Helen Brown(John), Port Royal, Va., Audrey Jones, Raleigh, NC., and Gwendolyn Foster, Richmond, Va., special friends, Bessie Lee, Elizabeth Golden, Pearl Holmes and Betty J. Johnson, and many other relatives and friends.
