Emrid C. Baylor, Sr.

Emrid Cornelious Baylor, Sr., son of the late Herman and Bertie Baylor, was born January 7, 1926 in Caroline County Virginia. He departed this life into a peaceful rest on July 28, 2006 at Mary Washington Hospital, after a brief illness. At an early age, Emrid joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Royal, Va after accepting the Lord as his personal Savior.

He was blessed with 60 years of Holy Matrimony to Mary Matilda Murray and from their Holy union they parented three girls and three boys. He was preceded in death by his brothers William, Thomas, and James Baylor, his sisters Dorothy Baylor and Marie Washington and his daughter Mary Frances ''Button'' Baylor.

He retired from Quantico Marine Corps base after 25 years of service. Emrid was an avid gardner and took pride in growing fresh vegetables and manicuring his yard.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife Mary, two daughters, Carlene Randle and Dorothy Wright both of Woodford, three sons, Emrid Jr., James (Billy) and Donald, all of Fredericksburg, one grandson, Daniel Randle of Alexandria, five granddaughters, Paula Thompson of Richmond, Melissa Foxx of Milford, Letitia McCall of Spotsylvania, Katina Howard of Stafford and Corrissa Lambert of Fredericksburg and eight great grandchildren. A very special sister, Elizabeth Gresham of Woodford, one brother-in-law, Grant Washington of Corbin, Virginia; two sons-in-law, Jimmie L. Randle and John Wright both of Woodford, Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Gladys Lambert of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends. Five exceptional loved ones, nephew Samuel Gresham, cousin Vergie Coleman and three special friends, Gloria Williams, Arlene Johnson and Col. Joseph Nickens, Ret.
