Emma Lee Roye

Emma Lee Roye was born June 9, 1928 in Caroline County, Virginia to Linwood Roye and Emma Sayles. She departed life after a long illness on April 17, 2010 in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father Linwood Roye, mother Emma Roye, sisters Doris Pauline Jones, Ida Mae Roye, brothers Arthur Roye and Charles Roye.

Emma worked for 20 years as a delivery room nurse, at both Old Garfield Memorial Hospital and Washington Hospital Center. She worked 30 years for the orthodontic offices of Snyder, Herrwick, and Kerrigan. Upon retirement, she continued to work part-time at Washington Hospital Center until 2009.

To cherish their memories of her, she leaves her devoted sons Phillip Hairston of Indianapolis, IN, Kenneth Hairston of Woodford, VA and one daughter Cindy Hairston of Washington DC, one brother William Roye of Ruther Glen, one sister-in-law Margaret Roye of Ruther Glen, VA and one sister Lucille Wright of Memphis, TN, one grandson, Anthony Hairston, and a host of relatives who carry her in their heats.
