Emma Cole

Emma Elizabeth Cole quietly entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia after a long illness at the Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Emma was the daughter of the late John (Buck) and Cora Bell Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Gregory, her brothers John and James (Alex) and her grandson Lornell.

She was married to the late Robert Henry Cole, she had four sons. Emma received her education in Stafford County Public Schools. She worked several jobs to support her children. She worked in Washington, D.C. and came home every weekend to be with her family. She later moved back to King George, Virginia to care for her parents until their deaths. Emma joined Long Branch Baptist Church at an early age and later moved her membership to People Union Baptist Church in King George, VA where she remained a member until her health failed her.

Emma leaves to cherish her precious memory three sons, William Cole (Ann) of Rappahannock Academy, VA Raymond Cole (Pam) of Port Royal, VA and Valee Coghill (Lennette) of Hustle, VA. 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Fred Cole of Fredericksburg, Va. and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves Walter Washington, Vincent Washington and Donald Brown whom she loved and thought of as her sons.

Emma will always be remembered for her good cooking and her hospitality. The door was always open for anyone and all were made to feel welcomed.

The family of Emma Cole would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides of the Bowling Green Health and Wellness Center and the Spotsylvania Regional Memorial Hospital.
