Elton Clinton Lewis, 83 of Fredericksburg, Virginia entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Carriage Hill Rehabilitation Nursing Home.
He was born May 23, 1928 to the late David Elton Sr., & Catherine Lewis of Spotsylvania, Virginia. Known as Clinton to some and "Go-Folks" to others, he was raised in Spotsylvania County. "Go-Folks" was educated in the Spotsylvania County School System. He joined Piney Branch Baptist Church at an early age.
Clinton joined the United States Army and served for three years. Upon the completion of his service career and returning home, Clinton was employed by FMC Plant (Sylvania Plant) for a number of years.
He loved gatherings of family and friends. "Go-folks" touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. Thankfully, Clinton maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cleo Brown Lewis of the home in Fredericksburg, Virginia; his daughter, Jacquelyn C. Lewis of Spotsylvania, Virginia, who was deeply devoted to him during the entirety of his illness; his son, Don (Joann) Brown of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one sister, Ms. Ida Lewis of Spotsylvania, Virginia; a loving cousin, Mr. Alfred Byrd of Spotsylvania, Virginia, who was as close as a brother; a host of nieces, nephews, and other cousins, relatives and friends.
