Elizabeth Ruby Whiting

Elizabeth Ruby Whiting was called home to be with the Lord on March 3, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born to the late Lum Shanklin and Theodore Williams on May 26, 1937.

Elizabeth accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She attended Ralph Bunch Public Schools and was a babysitter for many children. Some of her favorite pastimes were watching wrestling and soap operas. She also enjoyed eating pork skins and strawberry ice cream. Even though she adored those things, nothing could compare to spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Willie George Whiting and son Irving Whiting. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, LaVerne Brooks (John) and Roberta Shanklin-Harper of King George, VA and Christine Whiting of Caroline, VA; stepdaughter, Belinda Grady of Bowling Green, VA; sisters-in-law, Gladys Pryor, Winnie Bell Pryor, and Shirley Whiting of King George, VA, Dorothy Washington (Lloyd) of Port Royal, VA and Mabel Yancy of New Jersey; brother-in-law Charles Edelen of King George, VA; seven grandchildren, Pete, DeeDee, Vicky, Kina, L J, Shannon and Lance; twelve great-grandchildren, Jakira, Sharmaine, Shaniya, Trayvon, Tyshaun, Alayna, Semajai, Kimora, L A , Amina, Amari and Kai; a special niece Faye McDowney; one godchild, Leonard Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
