On Wednesday, August 15, 2018 Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Garland was called home to Glory at Southern Maryland Hospital. Betty was born on September 06, 1945 to the late John and Lucille Thompson in LaPlata, Maryland. Betty was educated in Charles County School System. Betty was a hard worker, working many positions all her life. Betty enjoyed cooking, playing cards, crossword puzzles, watching old western movies, cookouts and looking after her grand/great-grand children. She had a very giving heart and always had a smile on her face and she would never turn anybody away that was in need .Most of all she loved her family and friends.
Betty was proceeded in death by her husband John Garland, her daughter Elizabeth Thompson, two son in laws, four grandchildren and four brothers. She leaves behind her children to cherish her memories : Rose Ferguson, Patricia (Harry) Gross, Barbara Hagens, John Barbour and William Barbour. Two special family friends Arlene Neil and Darryl Scott, four sisters Louise (Charles) Proctor, MaryJane Butler, Cozette (Dobie) Capers, Delorse Ford and two brothers James ( Betty) Thompson, Eugene (Patricia) Thompson. Two aunts Aliah Thompson and Ronnie Hawkins. One uncle Bernard Swann. Fifteen grandchildren Anthony Thomas, James Capers, Wanda Gross (Terrance), Dwayne Gross, Kelvin Thompson, Angela Scott, Colette Gross, Ernest Thompson, William Scott II, Charlene Thompson , William Clark, Michael Clark , Yvette Clark, Kimberly( Darius) Medley, John Barbour III and twenty nine great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
