Edward Lee Washington, son of the late Fletcher and Rosie Washington, was born July 25, 1928, in Caroline County, Virginia. He departed this life surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Milford, Virginia on Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at 10:00 p.m.
At an early age, he accepted Christ and joined the St. John Baptist Church, Milford, Virginia.
Edward retired after 28 years of service in the Maintenance Department of Caroline County Public Schools. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was affectionately called ''Charlie Brown'' by his grandchildren. Edward was loved by everyone in the community. He enjoyed working his garden and fishing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Julia Alice Washington; six children, Lucille V. Hevelow of Spotsylvania, Virginia, John E. Holmes of Milford, Virginia, Betty J. Childs of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Virginia L. Ferguson of Bowling Green, Virginia, JoAnne Jones of Milford, Virginia and Larry W. Holmes of Orlando, Florida; two daughters-in-law, Margie Holmes and Alisa Holmes; four sons-in-law, Robert Hevelow, Emmett Childs, Elvis Ferguson and James Jones; one brother, Albert Washington of Washington, D.C.; twenty grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A devoted friend, Mr. John Brown. We will all miss your presence and friendly smiles. May Jehovah bless and keep you until we meet again.
