Dorothy Elaine Beverly

On Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 12:15pm, our beloved wife and mother entered peacefully into eternal rest at Community Hospice of Washington D.C., surrounded by her family. Dorothy Elaine Wright was born on October 9, 1938 in Milford, Virginia. She was the youngest child of the late Clarence and Dollie Wright. At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church, Milford, Virginia.

''My mother was a phenomenal and very strong woman'' said her son John Beverly, Jr. She loved her family and I will always cherish our conversations about the physical and spiritual life. All who loved and laughed with her will miss her immensely and love her forever.

Dorothy was a graduate of Union High School. On December 26, 1956, Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to John Beverly from Caroline County and from this blessed union two children were born, Delma and John, Jr. Dorothy had a successful catering business while currently employed as the kitchen manager with Congregation Beth El in Bethesda, Md., for many years. While in Washington, D.C., she attended Union Temple Baptist Church.

Dorothy leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 50 years John O. Beverly, Sr., her two children, daugther Delma V. Owens and her son John O. Beverly, Jr.; two grandchildren, Mia and John-Michael Beverly; one sister, Isabelle Wright; one daughter-in-law, Juana Beverly; her godson, Jeremy Daniels and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and close friends.

Dorothy would like to say a special thank you to her sister, Isabelle Wright, nieces - Doris Woolfolk, Iris Jones and Dollie Adams and nephew Gilbert Johnson for all the help and support during her time of need.
