"...the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4: 6-7
Dorothy "Fleet" Clark, the seventh of ten children, born to the late Luther and Julia Ware on January 17, 1924 quietly and peacefully departed this life on April 17, 2014 at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond, Virginia with her goddaughter by her side.
Fleet received her education in King & Queen County. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Saint Stephen's Baptist Church in Central Point, Virginia. As a young adult she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and worked until her retirement over thirty years later. While in Philadelphia, she united with New Macedonia Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Missionary Board.
Fleet did not have any natural children, but lovingly claimed many as her children. She nurtured her niece, Rebecca Greene Hepburn as her own. She would later be named "NANA" by Rebecca and Raymond's youngest children, Lisa and Reginald. This name would be continued by their generation and generations that followed.
Fleet joined First Mount Olive Baptist Church where she was a faithful member, after returning to King and Queen County in 1988. She became a dedicated and vibrant employee for "Meals on Wheels."
Fleet enjoyed being in the company of others, sharing her strong opinions, traveling & sightseeing, listening to the radio, reading the Bible, and distributing gospel tracks. She was a very determined and opinionated woman who always completed everything that she started. She loved to assist others and had a genuine heart of gold.
Fleet was preceded in death by her husbands Tom Clark and Tim Roberts. She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Corine Darby, of Mechanicsville, Virginia; a devoted goddaughter and great niece, Lisa Edwards (Clyde) of Saint Stephens Church, Virginia; a committed niece, Brenda Pitts of Richmond, Virginia; a dedicated great niece, Barbara Fulcher of Walkerton, Virginia; a loving caregiver, Pearl Johnson and a host of other very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
