Don M. Harris stepped in the dawn of a brand new day as he answer the call of our Lord Jesus Christ at his residence in Supply, Virginia, on Monday, February 28, 2011.
Don was born on September 8, 1949 to the late James T. and Laura Pratt Harris in n Essex County. He received his education in Essex County Public School System and graduated from Essex High School. He joined the New Liberty Baptist Church in Beasley, Virginia at an early age and continue worship there until he moves his membership and join Ebenezer Baptist Church in Supply, Virginia. He worked for Robert Shreve Oil Company for over 20 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service after eighteen years of service.
Don was a devoted and loving husband for over thirty years, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone. His favorite sport was Baseball and he enjoyed Basketball, but most of all spending time with his loving grandchildren whom he adored and affectionately loved. He had one brother Earl T. Harris who preceded him death.
Don was married to late Shirley Holmes Harris for over 30 years, from that union three children were born. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: one son Don M. Harris, Jr. (Jodi), one daughter Shanta Harris, eight grandchildren: Dondre, Raven, Desiree, Donovan, and Don III Harris, Cordairo Washington, Nykayla Beasley and Jamille Houston; four sisters, Althena Harris, Manassas, Virginia,, Mary Taylor, Caret, Virginia, Clara Byrd, Champlain, Virginia, and Ernestine Newbill (Johnny), Tappahannock, Virginia; two brothers, Levi Harris (Helen), Lorton, Virginia and Rex Harris (Tinka), Woodford, Virginia; five aunts, Odell Bundy, Iona Bundy, Frances Pratt, and Nominee Harris all of Tappahannock, Virginia and Mable Tyler of Salem, N.J.; two uncles, Junior Harris, Penngrove, N.J. and Thomas Pratt, Tappahannock, Virginia; six Sister-in-laws, Marion Sorrell, Bernice Ferguson, Mattie Lee, Pearl Holmes, Ursula Holmes all of Supply, Virginia Eartha Harris, Woodbridge, Virginia; two brothers –in-laws William Holmes (Barbara Jean) and Ryland Holmes of Supply, Virginia; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves a caring and good friend Gertie Bowman.
