Derek Andre' Wise (aka: D. Wise), loving son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to all who knew him, was born on August 3, 1984 to Mrs. Victoria P. Wise and the Late Curtis Wise.
He was suddenly called home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Derek received his education in the public school system of Westmoreland County, Virginia. He graduated from Washington & Lee High School in 2002.
Realizing his need of a Savior, at an early age, he professed his faith in and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, was baptized and united with the Siloam Baptist Church, under pastorate of the Late Rev. Clarence Long. In the year of 1995, Derek was led to transfer his membership and united with the Little Zion Baptist Church, under pastorate of the Late Rev. William B. Scott. During his youth and teen years, Derek served faithfully as a member of Ushers Minister and the Youth Choir.
Derek was employed with the Wal-Mart Corporation as a Hardware Department Manager. He enjoyed his work and ensured that whatever he did was done to the best of his ability. He was a faithful, dedicated and committed employee. Being one to always show himself friendly, Derek gained many friends at his workplace. His fellow employees and customers always spoke of his welcoming smile and mild mannered ways. Derek was an avid Redskins fan. He also loved to just chill and listen to music.
He was a devoted and loving son to his mother and a loving friend and caring protector of his sister. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends.
Derek was predeceased by his father Curtis Wise, his maternal grandfather and grandmother, Fred and Garnet Purce; his paternal grandfather and grandmother, Earl and Dorothy Wise.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: His mother, Victoria P. Wise; one sister, Shumeka Wise of Montross, Virginia; three aunts, Hope Wise of Montross Virginia, Audrey (Howard) Branson of Colonial Beach, Virginia and Joyce (Charlie) Pratt of King George, Virginia; six uncles, Clayton (Pam) Purce of King George, Virginia; Randy (Kim) Purce of Alexandria, Virginia; Rodney (Shirley) Purce of Waldorf, Maryland; Lindsey Purce of San Diego, California; Jerry (Juanita) Newman of Colonial Beach, Virginia; Frankie (Ann) Newman of Queens, New York; five great aunts, Alice Coleman of Colonial Beach, Virginia; Selina Johnson of Clinton, Maryland; Joyce (Alwin) Roane of Centerville Maryland; Frances Thompson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Claudia Hickman of Mitchellville, Maryland; Mary W.
