Dennis Clark Lewis affectionately known as “DC” was born on July 12, 1958, to Ida C Lewis, at Mary Washington Hospital and transitioned on January 19, 2022, at Mary Washington Hospital. He was educated in Spotsylvania County School Systems and graduated from Spotsylvania High School in 1976. Dennis was baptized at Piney Branch Baptist Church at an early age and was a member until his earthly departure.
Dennis was a member of the United States Air Force from June of 1976 until 1980 when he was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant, due to an injury. He worked for the United States postal service for 19 years before his retirement. In his days of retirement, he went on to do the grass cutting for Piney Branch Baptist Church.
Dennis enjoyed attending crab feasts and entertaining his family. If you knew him, you were guaranteed to get an invitation to many cookouts over the summer. Dennis was always having a good time, picking on his family and telling great jokes. If you were around long enough, he was going to offer you some of his delicious homemade wine.
His brother Eddie Ford and youngest sister, Amanda Lewis preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Ida Lewis, daughters Precious and Lillian Lewis, his son Dennis “DJ” Lewis and devoted companion, Martha Santiago. 10 siblings, Kensey “Mac” Lewis, Barbara Lewis, Lee Lewis, Delorse Parker (Sam), Gary Lewis, David Lewis (Debra “Debbie”), Sandra Willis (David), Karen Smith (Van “Banny”), Carolyn Brooks (Cedell) and Valerie Wilson, 4 nieces; Veronica, Robinette, Kamren, and Cayla, 5 nephews; Franklin, Marcus, Elton, David “Iggy”, and Leon Carter III “LJ”, 5 great nieces; Zenia, Aliyah, Shanell, Amia and Taija, 4 great nephews; Shakeem, Desean, Jaydon and Lenny, 3 great-great nephews; Tevin, Taelin and Kyro, and a host of cousins and friends.
