Delorice Iola McDowney, entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, at her home on July 9, 2015. She was surrounded by love and family. She was born April 10, 1960 in King George County to the proud parents of George and Shirley Johnson.
Della joined the Union Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. She received her education from King George County Public Schools. She was later joined in holy matrimony with Mark P. McDowney on December 30, 1988. After uniting in matrimony to Nick, she moved her membership to Good Hope Baptist church. Della was also employed as a Deli Clerk with Food Lion in King George until June 2010.
She was a diehard Washington Redskin Fan. Della loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. Her favorite saying was "It aint gonna be pretty!"
She was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her George and Mamie Johnson. Grandparents Charles and Grace Davis, one sister Earlene P. Johnson, one step-son Mark McDowney and father and mother-in-law James and Daisy McDowney.
Della leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband, Mark McDowney; one devoted daughter, Denice Lindsey (Richard); two devoted sons, Aaron McDowney (Courtney Walker) and Sylvester McDowney (Jessica); nine grandchildren: Ke'Asia Butler, Keynidra Johnson, Tyrone McDowney, Acacia Lindsey, Elijah McDowney, Richard Lindsey III, Kameen McDowney, LiAria Lindsey and Jusiah McDowney; loving parents, George and Shirley Johnson; five sisters: LaVern ( Donald) Smith, Verlette Davis, Mary Johnson, Cynthia Freeman and Barbara Johnson; eight brothers: George (Earline) Johnson, Timothy (Cynthia) Johnson, Michael (Katrina) Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Thomas (Kim) Johnson, William Johnson, Kevin (Stacey) Beverly and Larry (Joy) Beverly; four aunts: Elizabeth Davis, Alice Smith, Lucy Mae Davis and Ella (Robert) Johnson; two uncles Linwood Davis and Thomas Johnson; five god-children: Keon Johnson, Monique Johnson, Keyona Carter, Darnell Davis and Nathaniel White; three brother-in-law, five sister-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
